Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi
Maandhan Yojana (PM‑SYM)
A voluntary contributory pension scheme for unorganised sector
workers. Eligibility: Indian citizens, aged 18-40 years, with a
monthly income up to ~₹15,000, and not covered under EPFO/ESIC.
Benefits: A guaranteed pension of ₹3,000 per month upon attaining
age 60.

Atal Pension Yojana (APY)
A pension scheme for workers (especially unorganised), aged 18-40
years, who hold a savings account. They choose a monthly pension
to receive from age 60 (₹1,000 to ₹5,000). Designed to provide
old-age income security for the underprivileged/unorganised sector.

Financial Assistance for
Education of the Wards of
Beedi/Cine/Non‑Coal Mine
Workers
A scheme under the Directorate General of Labour Welfare (DGLW)
for unorganised workers in beedi, cinema and non-coal mining
industries. Benefit: annual scholarship per student (₹1,000 to
₹25,000) for wards of eligible workers. (Ministry of Labour &

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana –
Gramin (PMAY‑G)
A housing scheme targeting rural poor (including labourer
households) who don’t have a pucca house. It provides
subsidy/assistance for building a house in rural areas. Widely used

National Social Assistance
Programme (NSAP)
A social pension programme for the elderly poor, widows and
persons with disabilities. Central assistance for those with little or no
regular means of subsistence. Helps under-privileged manual labour

National Labour & Employment
Policy
A labour-policy document released as a draft in 2025, which outlines
the vision for a fair, inclusive labour ecosystem: social security for
all workers (formal & informal), decent work, safety & reskilling,
digital governance, especially for unorganised, migrant and
